The planning of the attack of September 11

The attack that killed nearly 3,000 people on September 11, 2001, the United States began to be planned in 1993, after an explosion at the World Trade Center itself. The action failed-90s would destroy the twin towers and leaving more than 250,000 dead, but killed six people.
Dissatisfied with the explosion of a much smaller than expected, began to search for Ramzi Yousef, known as "chemical" the skill with bombs and explosives to destroy the symbolic towers of the World Trade Center.
"The attack of September 11 began to be thought effectively in a lunch when Ramzi, who had tried to blow up the towers, and his friend Abdul Murad presented to Khaled Sheikh Mohammed [KSM] the new plan for ending the World Trade Center : turning airplanes into missiles to destroy the buildings, "says Ivan Sant'Anna, author of the book" Plan of Attack ", which reconstructs the planning and the moments leading up to the shock of the aircraft with their targets.
The book is based Sant'Anna, plus testimonials from relatives of victims involved and the official report of the U.S. Congress on the attack, "The 9/11 Commission Report." The document, over 580 pages, deals with the events since the plans for the so-called Operation Flying to the details of execution, recounted in statements by Khaled Sheikh Mohammed, currently imprisoned at Guantanamo.
According to the report, it was only in 1999 that KSM formally joined al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden gave the green light for Operation Airplanes. Then start choosing pilots and others who participate in the suicide mission that had everything to go wrong.
"The September 11 told a lot with the luck factor. Initially Osama Bin Laden wanted to participate in the mission only born in Mecca, but it would be impossible to achieve willing men, and that they had enough knowledge to steer the aircraft. Then enter the lot. Four men with higher education, who lived in Hamburg and therefore dominated the English, were recruited to fight in Chechnya and eventually integrating Aircraft Operation "said Sant'Anna.
The day's open and clean, that Tuesday, September 11, 2001, would also be crucial to the "success" of the attacks. With cloudy weather, perhaps inexperienced pilots were unable to reach their targets.
